Sofía Vergara Makes America Got Talent Golden Buzzer History After One Group's Death-Defying Act

Sofía Vergara is definitely buzzing after America's Got Talent's first season 19 live show.
The actress made series history during the NBC competition's Aug. 13 episode when she sent Hakuna Matata Acrobats straight to the finals after their jaw-dropping performance, a first for the reality show.
The Tanzanian group stunned both the audience and the judges by climbing on top of each other in different formations while balancing on boards stacked on top of rolling platforms. The team's gravity-defying skills and strength earned an immediate rave review from Simon Cowell.
"This is one of the most difficult, dangerous acts we've seen on a live show," the American Idol alum gushed. "And I genuinely mean this, it felt to me like you've arrived. I have so much respect, so much, for what you've done and this means a lot to you. I have a feeling this is gonna be a great, great night for you."
Heidi Klum echoed her fellow judge, adding, "I mean, you had my attention from the beginning to the very end. It's death-defying what you do."
But it was Vergara who was most impressed by the four performers.
"This is definitely one of the most ambitious acts I've seen on AGT," the Modern Family alum shared. "I can see the difference from the auditions. You guys deserve to be here. I don't think you guys need help from anyone else, but, regardless of that, I'm gonna have to do it."
And with that, she slammed her hand on the Golden Buzzer as the room erupted in applause and Hakuna Matata Acrobats celebrated. Making Vergara's move so historic is the fact that, for the first time ever, this season each judge will have one Live Show Golden Buzzer on a designated night during season 19's quarterfinal live shows.
Following the momentous moment, the Griselda star praised the group's improvement since the auditions earlier this season.
"This was perfection," the 52-year-old noted. "I can see their personalities tonight. It was beautiful. You guys deserve this."
America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
