Why Kelly Ripa Says “Nothing Will Change” After Ryan Seacrest Exits Live
View Date:2024-12-23 20:00:21
It's live with Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and Ryan Seacrest.
The trio took to the red carpet at the 2023 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles March 12, a month after the American Idol host announced he would be departing Live With Kelly and Ryan in April.
"It's bittersweet," Ryan admitted to Vanessa Hudgens during ABC's red carpet show. "We have such a great relationship and friendship and working relationship."
As for who will be filling the seat beside Kelly? The other part of their Oscars trio—none other than her husband of 26 years.
"Mark is going to take over," Ryan continued. "And he and I have the same kind of relationship. So it's going to be an exciting last few weeks. And a lot to come."
Mark chimed, "You're not done yet," to which Ryan echoed his sentiments replying, "I'm not done yet."
Meanwhile, Kelly has hope and faith that nothing will change between the besties.
"We keep saying, nothing will really change between the three of us," the All My Children alum shared. "It's just Ryan will get to have his coffee later."
However, Mark is excited to tackle a new kind of role. "I am so excited," the Riverdale actor said. "I start the show on April 17th, which is a Monday. I couldn't be more honored and excited."
As for Ryan, he recently got candid over what he'll miss about the daytime talk show.
"I'll miss being next to Kelly every single day," Ryan exclusively told Carolina Bermudez on the March 9 episode of E! News. "We're extremely close, we're very good friends, we'll remain good friends. But there's that hour of communicating with somebody. You become super excited about doing it. You laugh, and then, of course, you can't remember what you said to each other. So I'll miss that part."
Until then, keep reading to see every couple at the 2023 Oscars…

"Well most importantly is when I mentioned that my award was dedicated to the Deaf community, the disabled community and the CODA community, I saw that inspire so many folks, and I believe it's opening many more doors and opportunities," he said. "So I'm seeing much more diversity and inclusion in Hollywood. So that's what was quite inspiring about my moment. And of course, we haven't seen a deaf male actor for quite a while. Ever since Marlee Matlin, the female winner in the '80s. And Marlee said, 'I'm not alone anymore,' which was really touching."
